You might have been amazed that after getting his bell rung or should we say his ankle reinjured, San Francisco 49ers, Frank Gore was out for the count after getting tackled by the Arizona Cardinals safety Oliver Celestin.

Gore was helped off the field and thought he re injured the ankle, "I thought that I had broke it," said Gore. Gore when being assisted by team doctors and trainers head coach Mike Nolan was on his headset calling upstairs telling the assistant coaches, "It doesn't look like you're going to get Frank back".

After a few plays later and some extra rest Gore was back on his feet and looked like the Frank Gore of old. Gore had taped up his leg so tightly that the pain was controlled and he felt almost no pain.

Gore went 21 for 116 yards on carries and picked up his first 100 yard ball game of the long 49ers season. "We played hard as a team, and we just kept pounding the rock, pounding and pounding", said Gore.

What made Gore have the better game? It was he was getting more snaps in games and this one was the one that he and the Niners were shooting for and they pulled off the win over the Rams. The 49ers ran 67 plays another season high.

"The other is we were ahead some of the game, therefore you can call whatever you want. From an overall standpoint, we utilized Frank the same way we typically would if we are in charge of the game," said Nolan.

Dilfer told the backs that the Cardinals were dropping back and leaving the middle of the field open and Gore who played carrier and receiver took advantage up the middle. Gore who complained about offensive coordinator Jim Hostler earlier this season was asked if he felt offensive coach Ted Tollner made a difference in the play calling? "Hey, I don't know who was calling the plays, but they did a great job," said Gore.

Gore had been shutout on scoring during the eight game losing streak and scored twice on Sunday. Gore carried for 11 yards in the second quarter scoring a touchdown. Gore scored another touchdown late in the fourth quarter when the Niners badly needed it to stay alive in the game for 35 yards.

Gore said that any pain he had from the game in Glendale last Sunday is now gone and he's ready for the next challenge. Gore persevered and stayed in the game and was the key to the game victory, "It felt good, it's been tough though. After the game, we were all like kids in a candy store".

The Niners really looked good in this one they finished all they're plays and made a few mistakes but kept themselves in the game. Niners quarterback Dilfer was hitting his targets and made plays when the Cardinals dropped back. Dilfer also got the protection he needed and he had time to stay in the pocket and find people to throw the ball to.

Either way if the 49ers plan to beat Carolina this Sunday they need Gore and they need the time to allow Dilfer to throw. Against the Panther defense it will prove to be a challenge and one thing the Niners don't want is for Dilfer to be running away or keeping the ball all day long.

The 49ers know all too well that's what they've been going through in the eight games during the losing streak. Against the Panthers the Niners are going to have to fire the ball and get the yards and get in the end zone early to stay ahead of Carolina. The Panthers are no joke.
