SANTA CLARA--The 49ers who played the Packers last Sunday whether or not they play them in Lambaeu and didn't have a whole lot of success against the Packers and again it doesn't matter if they play them in Green Bay or San Francisco.
Lambaeu is particularly hard partly because there is so much history probably because the fans are so fantastic and give the Packers such a great home field advantage. That really is the difference maker very few stadiums have a true home field advantage even a lot of the newer stadiums have kind of just removed the fan element because they put the fans so far from the field where they made the seats so close so expensive that the really nutty crazy fans who are loud and obnoxious and get in their face and get in the ears of the players those guys can't sit close to the field any more.
Those are the fans that are up in the upper deck and they just can't scream loud enough to make a difference. Lambaeu is a throwback stadium and stadiums aren't built like that anymore, they are not as uniformed, they don't have fans as close to the field, they don't have fans in the cheap seats, all the seats are relatively easy to afford compared to Dallas where it costs thousands of dollars to sit close to the field and sit at the 50 yard line.
Not the case in Green Bay either way, whether or not the fans are the difference makers that remains to be seen because the Packers aren't a bad team. They came into this game to get into the playoffs to fight for a wild card spot and they're pretty good. They had a lot of weapons on offense, they had Aaron Rogers at quarterback who is likely to be a Pro Bowler for the NFC squad this year he's been absolutely fantastic.
Jaguars up next for San Francisco: 49ers Head coach Mike Singletary is finally going to start coming around and realize this is the offense he has and he has to work with his personnel to get this team moving to get an efficient offense on the passing side and it might just happen that by passing a lot to open up some running lanes.
The running backs might have the element of surprise on their side if the defense starts thinking pass, pass, pass then you can do a draw play, you can do a quick play right up the middle. Sometimes with their personnel you got to play to their strength. Right now the 49ers strength might very well be in their passing game.
So in the next few weeks the Niners will face Jacksonville, Philadelphia, Arizona and Seattle. Your going to see more passing on the 49ers. The balance is going to shift and much as Singletary doesn't want it to it's something that he got to do. If he doesn't there is something wrong.
The 49ers will move to more of a passing offense and it will be up to Alex Smith to open up like that. The game coming up against the Jaguars is going to be a very interesting game for the 49ers. The Jags have been on a roll lately and they started off kind of slow and then have come around and their a team to be reconged with the 49ers should not take these guys lightly.
They had some really good weapons, they have quarterback David Garrard whose having a pretty good season. He doesn't have a ton of weapons at wide receiver but he makes due.
Mike Sims Walker has started to come around as the top wide receiver for the Jags a real big threat on Jacksonville.
The real big threat on Jacksonville is Maurice Jones Drew the running back, the guy's timing but he is a bowling ball. This is one of those guys who plays bigger than he really is. He's sitting there with 926 yards on the season and averages five yards a carry, Drew has 13 touchdowns and averages 100 yards a game. The Niners could have their hands full on Sunday at Candlestick.
