This is a Nov. 12, 2009, file photo showing San Francisco 49ers safety Michael Lewis (32) celebrating after beating the Chicago Bears in an NFL football game in San Francisco. Michael Lewis kept the ball from his winning interception as a gift for his nearly 2-week-old baby girl. For a San Francisco player who has endured three concussions this season, such a play was something to celebrate. (AP Photo)

SANTA CLARA--It's never easy going to Lambeau Field, Green Bay is one of the better places in the league to play as far as history is concerned but it's not great for visiting teams. Partly because the weather can be shaky and partly because they have a great home field advantage because the fans are so fantastic.

We know from years and years of experience in really the last 20 years that the 49ers have struggled a bit in Lambeau part of that was because they were never really able to figure out quarterback Brett Farve outside of the one playoff game involving 49ers Steve Young and Terrell Owens which was way back in 1998.

The 49ers really had a tough time beating the Pack and Farve and for the last 20 years it's pretty much been the Green Bay Packers. This time around it's been Rogers at the helm so the 49ers don't have to worry about Mr.Farve this time they have to worry about that old Cal guy coming out and trying to do damage with Aaron Rogers in this game.

You have a little sub plot with the two quarterbacks who were picked in the same draft with the 49ers Alex Smith and the Packers Rogers. Smith was the number one pick but if you remember Rogers was the other quarterback who was considered a first round talent in that draft.

The 49ers had to choose between Alex Smith and Aaron Rogers sad to say it looks like the 49ers made the wrong choice. Never the less in that draft Smith was picked first and Rogers went all the way down to the Packers in the 20s. A lot people thought the Packers got a steal and it looks like they might have because Rogers is one of the top quarterbacks in the NFC.

Really what you have here is two teams who have shaky offensive lines, the 49ers have spared a little bit better than the Packers but not by much. If you watched any of the Green Bay games you would know that Rogers has been getting absolutely pummeled just left and right, the offensive line is terrible and they have suffered some injuries, they have some inexperienced players and they have some players that aren't that good.

The Packers have let some guys through like you wouldn't believe, their offensive line is really bad, if I'm not mistaken Rogers is the most sacked quarterback in the league and that's probably not a good thing given how the 49ers defense has been playing. Their pass rush has been okay, but against teams where the offensive line has been shaky the 49ers have been really good.

Despite the fact that the 49ers have not won all the games the defense has been very stout, they haven't been giving up a lot. Against the Bears they didn't give up a lot of points, the quarterbacking wasn't very good and a little inaccurate and prone to throwing interceptions such in the case of Bears quarterback Jay Cutler.

More impressively against the Indianapolis Colts the 49ers didn't allow a touchdown pass by Peyton Manning who is without a doubt the best quarterback in the league right now. So the 49ers have been doing a very good job of pressuring the quarterbacks and putting together unique looks to confuse the quarterbacks and that's what their going to be aiming for this Sunday against the Packers.
