Bears can also be a handful this Thursday for Niners

SANTA CLARA--The Tennessee Titans were one of the last undefeated teams in the NFL last season but came to Candlestick Park at 1-6 and left 2-6 after defeating the 49ers last Sunday. Despite the record of this year the Titans are a good team and as bad as everything has been for them this year they haven't been horrendous.
They're a team that some things have gone wrong but they clearly have a lot of talent on that team and it was just a matter of time before they started putting things together. Part of that problem maybe was at quarterback with Kerry Collins who just wasn't cutting it and they used quarterback Vince Young who threw 12-19 for 172 yards and no touchdowns and won the game for the Titans.
49er quarterback Alex Smith threw two touchdowns but turned over the ball four times in the Niners fourth straight loss. Generally speaking the 49ers offense was moving the ball and they did score 27 points and it was really nice to see Jason Hill getting involved in the game and part of that was because Issac Bruce went out with a mild injury.
Hill came in and scored a touchdown and got a couple of nice big passes so this will be a chance for him to get a little more playing time. Maybe his performance last Sunday showed the team something and they'll give him some more chances. It's really tough to look at this 49ers team to get a real feel for what their doing.
The 49ers are not a bad team, but their not a good team, their right in the middle. In the NFL the only thing that separates those teams in the middle from the teams in the playoffs are the mistakes. For the 49ers if they can correct the mistakes they can win the football game. Especially against teams like Tennessee and especially this week with a team like the Chicago Bears who the Niners face this Thursday night.
The Bears are coming into town and their a team that just got torched by a team like the Arizona Cardinals it wasn't even a close game even though the score looked like it was kind of close. Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner came in and threw five quick touchdowns and that was it for the Bears and that ball game was in Chicago. Not even in Arizona and the Cardinals had to go on the road to beat the Bears.
The Bears are a team that are good but not great they're right in the middle and they're another team like the 49ers where they can't afford to make mistakes and when they do make mistakes they can't win. There's not a lot of room for error and that's kind of the way the NFL is there are a couple of really good teams like the Vikings, Colts, Patriots and their are a whole bunch of teams right in the middle and that's where the 49ers are.
Unfortunately that means the 49ers are 3-5 right now and they're struggling a little bit with four loses in a row. But things can turn around pretty quickly and the Niners certainly aren't out of it. They've shown they can hang with a good team, anyone who watched them play against Minnesota and Indianapolis and they proved they can hang with those teams of that caliber.
If the Niners make mistakes there's no way they can beat those teams, they have to play nearly perfect football and that's the problem it's really tough to do that every single week. The 49ers have talented players but they also have some position players some are just not cutting it and that's something they can't really address during the season, it's something they only address in the off season.
The 49ers play host to the Chicago Bears on Thursday night at Candlestick Park with a 5:20PM kick off.
