St. Louis Rams (0-3) at SANFRANCISCO 49ERS (2-1)
SUNDAY, Oct. 4, 1:15 p.m.
Radio KNBR-AM 1050
TV – FOX 2
History Lesson: Niners WR Isaac Bruce snagged seven catches and a TD to burn his former team when SF razored the Rams 17-16 in Week 16… The 49ers have captured six of the past eight meetings, but trail the former Cleveland, Los Angeles and current St. Louis franchise 60-57-2 in the overall series.
Last Week: It may have been the best game the Niners have played in years, making last week’s 27-24 last minute road heartbreaking loss to the Vikings that much more, well, heartbreaking… The Rams were bludgeoned in St. Louis by Green Bay 36-17 and are looking for their initial win of the Steve Spagnulo era.
The Good Guys: With RB Frank Gore on the sidelines, rookie RB Glenn Coffee gets a shot to show what he’s got after leading the league with 249 pre-season yards. So far Coffee has 64 yards on 35 carries in regular season… QB Shaun Hill has won both of his starts vs. St. Louis… TE Vernon Davis, who lead the Niners with 14 receptions, grabbed a pair of TD from Hill last week.
The Bad Guys: Former Cal signal caller, QB Kyle Boller is expected to get the start for St. Louis. Boller is 16-of-31 for 164 yards and two TDs in relief of the injured Marc Bolger… RB Steven Jackson already has 60 carries for St. Louis for 288 yards, but no TDs… WR Laurent Robinson leads the winless Rams with 13 catches.
