SANTA CLARA--For those who questioned Greg Lewis' catch for the Vikings on Sunday it was clear both feet were in but it was a question of possession and did he have the ball and how well did he hold onto the ball because he bobbled it a little bit.

Lewis definitely got both feet in bounds and it was kind of hard to tell live but on the replay Lewis got his first foot down and dragged his second before he fell out of bounds so there is no controversy as far as you can tell on the replays.

Right now you really have to take your hat off and say Vikings quarterback Brett Farve did it again he just made the perfect throw at the perfect time and there was nothing that anyone could have done about it.

If the 49ers could have got to him a little bit quicker but when it gets right down to it Farve had to make the perfect perfect play and he did and let's hand it to Farve it's not the first time he's done something like that and that's what he's doing.

Unfortunately this happened to be the 49ers on the losing end and it was unfortunate considering how well the 49ers played all day on Sunday but when the 49ers come out of it they would have learned they can hang with the top teams in the NFC.

The 49ers are good enough to be competitive not only for the division but for the playoffs. They played against Minnesota who is one of the only 3-0 teams remaining in the NFC and the Giants being the other.

The 49ers could have won that game and they were beating the Vikings without Frank Gore on the field for 99% of the time. Gore went out on the second play of the game and they still managed to lead for 59:58 of that one.

So without their best player the 49ers showed they can hang with one of the top team's in the NFL and in their conference and do it on the road in one of the toughest stadiums in the league in the Metrodome.

You got to come away looking at the positives rather than the negatives because while there certainly are some negatives to take away from this game. It doesn't really reflect poorly on the 49ers. They lost but if there is such a thing I would almost call this a good loss because it leaves a bitter taste in the 49ers mouth and it leaves them something to prove.

At the same time they got to prove something they just need to prove it in the win column so that's what their going to come away from. The 49ers proved that they are good enough to hang with anyone in the NFC and that they should be taken seriously as a playoff competitor.

Getting ready for St. Louis: The 49ers kind of have a good luck of the draw here in the schedule they come off this tough game against Minnesota and they're a little frustrated at how it ended and boom they get the St. Louis Rams. This is a team that the 49ers played well against last season.

This is a team that has not played well at all this season St. Louis has lost their first three and are one of the few 0-3 teams and let's face it St. Louis has not looked good in those three loses. Were talking about a team that so far this season whose lost to Green Bay, Washington 9-7, and they lost to Washington and Washington isn't considered a very good team in their own right and then in the opening game this year the Rams lost to the Seahawks 28-0.

So clearly the Rams have had some struggles so far this season and the Rams have to come into Candlestick to face a Niners team that is probably going to be feeling like they got something to prove. They got to show that they can win. Last season the 49ers beat the Rams twice of their seven wins two of them came against the Rams.

The Niners probably can feel like they can beat this Rams team and in fact that they know they can beat them they've done it twice before and the personnel on the 49ers haven't changed. The Rams have a new head coach and the Rams have a lot of new players on the team never the less the results haven't been there.

St. Louis has been incredibly weak on offensive line, their receiving corp is in tremendous flux and remember two years ago it was Issac Bruce and Tory Holt and now Bruce is on the 49ers and Holt is playing in Jacksonville.
