SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (2-0) at Minnesota Vikings (2-0) (Metrodome)
Sunday, Sept. 27, 10 a.m.

TV – FOX 2

History Lesson: Back in Week 14 of the 2007 season the Niners corralled RB Adrian Peterson, limiting the Minnesota superstar to a career low three yards on 14 carries. SF however was not able to stop second stringer Chester Taylor who rolled for 101 yards on eight carries in the Vikings 27-7 win at Candlestick Park… The Purple People Eaters have won three of the past four regular season contests. The Niners have won four of five post-season contests and lead the overall series 22-20-1.

The Good Guys: After last week’s 23-10 whipping of Seattle, SF improved to 2-0 for the first time since 2007, but that season the club finished 5-11… Coach Mike Singletary who has drastically improved the attitude and swagger of the club has not whooped it up too much this week, he was an assistant on the ’07 club, but he may be able to secretly celebrate of the club can upend the Vikings on their home turf this Sunday… After last week’s two TD break out game RB Frank Gore has a 6.2 yard per carry average. He has compiled 237 yards and three TDs… Since breaking in in 2006, Gore has 5,421 yards from scrimmage -- the second-most in the NFC over that span...QB Shaun Hill improved to 9-3 as a starter with last week’s victory… Hill will celebrate a bit of a home coming with his return to the Metrodome. He played the first four seasons in his pro career with the Vikings, but did not take a snap with the club.

The Bad Guys:

QB Brett Favre has begun his Vikings career with a pair of wins but he hasn’t aired it out yet, supplying his receivers with an array of short passes and scampering like a spry 40 year old in the club’s 2-0 start. He may not be able to rely on RB Adrian Peterson as much this week however and may have to crank out a few deep balls… Favre has won 11 of his 13 starts against the 49ers. ... The Vikings have long been a run-stuffing defense and that is no different this year as they have yet to allow a rushing touchdown… SF QB Hill will face a face a stellar pass rush, which ranks third in the NFL with seven sacks... Vikings rookie WR Percy Harvin as a TD in two straight games.
