Two teams with 2-0 records meet this Sunday, and this is probably San Francisco’s biggest challenge.
The 49ers became 2-0 for the first time in 9 years last Sunday when they won narrowly against the Saint Louis Rams. Another note about being 2-0 is that SF has made it to the playoffs the last 7 times with that record.
Despite the 49ers being lucky to win their first two games, one could say they take advantage of mishaps. They will have to win however, without Manny Lawson who is out for the season after injuring his ACL during practice Wednesday.
Pittsburgh is doing stupendous, especially with a first-year coach at their helm, Mike Tomlin. They have allowed only 10 points through two games and their lowest point margin versus opponents is 20 pts. Yahoo! Sports reveals that the Steelers’ offense is also rolling as well.
The Steelers are 14-1 when their running back Willie Parker runs for 100 yards in a game. He enters Sunday’s contest on a streak of three such games.
James Harrison of Pittsburgh will play after being diagnosed with a stiff neck.
Predictions: The Steelers by Sportingnews.com fan blogs which have them winning 34-10, 89% of Yahoo! Sports Pro Football Pick’em users, and all 5 of Yahoo! Sports experts
This game is sure to be a big upset if the 49ers win. If Pittsburgh wins, they would be 3-0 for the first time since 1992.
It seems to be a matchup of inter conference wins versus the recent past as the Steelers have the edge in the former and SF in the latter.
