TV – Fox – KTVU 2

History: The Seahawks have won 24 of their past 28 games on their home turf, including six straight. They have captured 15 of their past 19 games vs. the NFC West and have beaten S.F. eight out of their last 10 games and lead in the overall series, 10-8.

When the 49ers have the ball: Quarterback J.T. O’Sullivan will try to score some points on the Seattle defense… In the team’s last meeting in week 10 of 2007, the Niners failed to cross the goal line dropping a 24-0 decision … Last week the first year Niner was 14-for-20 without a TD… RB Frank Gore and TE Vernon Davis who had good games last week will face a tough Seattle defense featuring MLB Lofa Tatupu, OLB Julian Peterson and FS Marcus Trufant… Gore has the third most yardage from scrimmage (2,893 rushing and 976 receiving) on the NFL since the beginning of the 2006 campaign… WR Bryant Johnson who has scored TD in four of his past five games vs. Seattle will go for his first TD as a Niner after catching three balls for 48 yards last week vs. Arizona… Niners will look to cut down on their six turnovers vs. the Cardinals in the opener.

When the 49ers are on Defense: Seattle QB Matt Hasselbeck is 8-2 lifetime vs. S.F. Niners OLB Manny Lawson is still getting his footing after missing nearly all of last season… OLB Justin Smith meanwhile is starting to blend in with his new team… CBs Nate Clements and Walt Harris will have their hands full with WR Nate Burleson and Bobby Engram… Pro Bowler MLB Patrick Willis will go against former Notre Dame sensation John Carlson… Former Cowboy Julius Jones has replaced Shaun Alexander at RB…

Coaches Corner:

What does Mike Nolan expect from Seattle’s QB Matt Hasselbeck:

“What I’ll say about [Matt] Hasselbeck first off is that he is a very good player. He’s an intrical part of why their very good on offense [and] have been. They’ve got a lot of confidence in him, they do have the most important piece of the puzzle in him in the offense. So the receivers and the offense in which it’s run, anybody that’s been in the offense knows it. They don’t experiment with a whole lot of new things [inaudible] it’s pretty precise at what it does. He’s the guy that makes it work. Obviously I have a lot of respect for him he’s a very good quarterback.”

Tiger Takes: The Seahawks 24-10.
