SANTA CLARA-- For the 49ers it's critical if the stadium measure in the Santa Clara June 8th election passes, if it doesn't pass there's going to be a lot of questions as to whether the 49ers are ever going to be able to get a stadium in the Bay Area.

It's not a foregone conclusion and not getting the stadium means they will leave. The NFL loves having a team like the 49ers in the Bay Area. Let's remember the 49ers were not only the first football team in the Bay Area. They were the first professional team for any major sports league in the Bay Area.

The 49ers have deeper roots than any team around here, deeper than the Giants, deeper than the A's, the Raiders, the Warriors. The 49ers are really the heart and soul of the Bay Area sports community. The front office at the NFL recognizes what the 49ers mean to the community here they don't want the 49ers to leave.

The NFL wants a way to keep the 49ers in the Bay Area and they'll do everything they can to prevent them from leaving. The stadium measure in the latest polls is ahead and it doesn't mean it's going to pass because anything can happen on voting day. The signs seem to be pretty good for the 49ers and they will get that stadium.

We'll find out next week on Tuesday election day when we talk next time but the signs have been good, so let's see what happens there's always a question mark. We've seen voters propositions fail for stadiums in a number of cities and in the Bay Area for the Giants a number of times.

The 49ers like I said they're roots run deep around here and there is a love for the Niners that you don't see quite as much as for other teams. You have to hold your breath a little bit but things are going to turn out well for the 49ers in the election and they’re going to get their stadium if the polls are correct.
