49ers Preview
San Francisco 49ers (7-8) at St. Louis Rams (1-14)
Jan. 3, 10 a.m.
Radio KNBR-AM 680
TV – FOX 2
History Lesson: The 49ers manhandled the Rams 35-0 in their last meeting back in Week 4… The Niners have won four of their last five contests with St. Louis, but the Rams have a slight 60-58-2 overall advantage in the all-time series… Last week RB Frank Gore rumbled for 152 yards in a 20-6 home win vs. Detroit… The Rams were gored by the Cards 31-10.
The Good Guys: If the Niners win they will finish at 8-8 and avoid their first losing campaign since 2002… WR Issac Bruce will make what will likely be his final NFL appearance back in St. Louis where he forged his HOF career… TE Vernon Davis is one TD away from WR Randy Moss for most in the NFL. If he eclipses the Patroit, Davis will become the first TE to lead the league in TDs… RB Frank Gore is the first Niner with four consecutive 1,000 yard rushing seasons.
The Bad Guys: The Rams can wrap up the No. 1 pick in the draft with a loss or Lions win… DB James Laurinaitis leads all rookies with 102 tackles… RB Steven Jackson has 1353 yards on the season.
